This scene was fully modelled, textured and rendered in Blender. Aside from some downloaded fingerprint and scratch textures, all materials were created procedurally using Blender’s shading nodes.
The lantern model
While not modelled after one specific reference, this lantern was made with close attention to the workings of real hurricane lanterns. Even the flame in the animation, was animated to move and flicker the same way as the flames of real lanterns do.

The texture of the lantern was made to resemble the lantern in the following video. I also used this video for education, to understand the lantern better.
